Fletcher definitely has his own personality these days and he is very "into" a few items. First, the vacuum, every morning he goes to the closet where the vacuum lives and points and yells for me to free it and let it run wild. So needless to say, the new floors are staying very clean. Second, two orange books, Green Eggs and Ham and Horton Hears a Who; I can now recite both from memory, which I'm sure will be an excellent addition to my resume. Third, going outside and doing anything. He loves playing on the screened in porch, climbing on the patio furniture, or just exploring the yard. The garage is also a frequent hangout of his, but probably because it is home to his other favorite thing, the broom. We walk down the street for kicks, and he carries it the whole way. He is also incredibly loving and sweet, and he listens....most of the time.
"If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again."

Genetics Strike!
We had a very cold spell a few days ago, and I was able to see one characteristic Fletcher inherited from me. I have very fine hair and when it is cold I get the worst static electricity. It gets plastered to my head, and I develop the ability to shoot little lightning bolts from my body. Well, poor Fletcher has the same thing. He was playing and ran into the living room and all his hair was plastered down. A few minutes later, Beau came up to lick him on the face and an arc of electricity popped both of them. He did seem to enjoy looking in the mirror as I made his hair stand up with a pillow though!

The crazy lady in the window
I read the books and articles about raising kids and they all say that music, specifically nursery rhymes, are helpful with all sorts of stuff. So Fletcher and I use the FROG as our dancing room, and I have a somewhat jazzed up CD of nursery rhymes. You know "I'm a little tea pot" and "The Incy Wincy Spider" set to danceable music. Fletcher really only stomps his feet and occasionally swings his arms, so I've been trying to use exaggerated movements lately to try and get him to move a little more. Well today I was dancing and singing and jumping all around, and Fletcher was starting to get into it. I went to spin around and caught something outside the window out of the corner of my eye. I stopped to check and it was a group 5 boys from the neighborhood stopped on their bikes in the middle of the road just staring at me like I was having a seizure. Now they of course could not see Fletcher because he's so short, so I can only imagine what they were thinking. As soon as they saw me looking they took off, probably afraid. I can't wait to see the kids when I'm out walking the dogs! They'll probably move to the other side of the road.
p.s The downstairs bathroom looks awesome! I'm so glad we decided to take the plunge and try to do stripes. As for the renovations, we are on hiatus for a little while.
