Birthdays, Boats and Baseball

October was loaded with birthdays including both of our dogs, Beau (11yo) and Reese (8yo), and Mac (4yo). F loves birthdays, so we sang and had "cake" (really just bread) for both dogs. Neither dog was very interested in the singing part, but they suffered through in order to get the bread.

Reese's birthday is on Halloween, and luckily Mawmaw came to visit that weekend. Aunt Kathy and Gigi came over to help give out candy (we had at least 100 kids), so they got to join in the singing fun. F was dressed as a race car driver, but he called himself Captain Cutler the race car driver. He is still obsessed with Scooby Doo and Captain Cutler is his favorite monster from one of the episodes. However, finding a costume from a cartoon made in the 70's is impossible. We tried looking for another suitable monster costume, but we couldn't find anything in his size. Everything his size is cutesy stuff, which he had no interest in. FYI costume makers: toddler boys like monsters!

Mac had a pirate themed birthday party complete with a real pirate and a parrot! The pirate took the kids on a treasure hunt and wouldn't you know it, they found a chest full of gift bags!

Mark has wanted a boat since we moved to Charleston nearly 2 years ago. I have been arguing against it for just as long, but alas...I lost the battle. My main argument, Fletcher is not old enough, is no longer valid. After much research and internet searching, Mark found an 18.5ft ski boat that had most of my requirements. Of course, F loves it! He sits up on the bow and lets the wind hit him in the face. He frequently makes us stop though, so he can go fishing.

We are sad that baseball season is over. We have a minor league team, the Riverdogs, in town, which provides a fun and cheap evening for our family. The last game we went to, I ran into a former student who was kind enough to give F a baseball he caught.

F loves the Riverdog!
