College hopes

Fletcher is cursed with both his college legacies. Clemson and Mississippi State are notorious for starting strong and then falling apart leaving in their wake disillusioned fans who only have the hopes of next season to keep them going. I feel bad for him, so my wish for him is that he goes to a school with a consistent winning football team and a baseball team with a great field...who often make it to the college world series...and he gets to play short stop for them when they go...and win! That's not asking much..is it?

Catching up

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, so here's a recap of what we've been up to.

Although I hate the idea of Fletcher hunkered down in front of the TV, there are times when it is helpful and he has grown to love Sesame Street.

He sits on the couch and screeches at Big Bird and Elmo, while I make my coffee and get his breakfast ready.

We have also been doing a lot of yard work, and Fletcher LOVES to be outside. We were working on the sprinkler system this past week, so he got to put on his new bathing suit from Mawmaw and play in the yard. It is really starting to heat up in SC.

However, he disappeared into the garage a few times, and I found him trying to ride the lawnmower.

Mark taught him to make this face, and it's all I get from him anymore. He either looks puzzled or like he's really angry. Someone at the park said, "He looks so serious,".

The next time I went to check on him he had put himself in the stroller.

He's become a big fan of chips and it's one of the few things he will feed himself. Again, I never thought I would let my not-even-two year old eat this kind of junk, but hey whatever works at this point!

Doritos are his favorite! The messiest ones...of course!

Finally, we took Fletcher to his first baseball game. The Riverdogs are a minor league team (that feed the Yankees YUCK!), and they have family day on Sundays. The heat was oppressive, but Fletcher didn't seem to mind. He liked the music and climbing the stairs mostly.

All grown up and...normal

Many of you know Fletcher has been in the 3rd percentile for height and weight his entire life. Everyone kept saying he would start to catch up, but I come from tiny people, so I was skeptical. We went to meet his new pediatrician last week, and when they charted his height and weight he is FINALLY in the normal range. 10th percentile for weight and 25th for height, woohoo! Suprisingly, he's in the 50th percentile for head circumference, which should make him look like he has a giant head, but I don't see it.

We also had to find a new person to cut his hair. We have been "trimming" it ourselves, but he was starting to get a mulet.

So he went from this

to this!

The kid cleans up pretty well!

He will be 2 years old in less than 3 months. I can't believe it!

Renovations...again

We've been busy since we returned from Nashville. We decided to tackle the hallways, both upstairs and down, and the stairwell/foyer. No small task, since much of it is 14ft walls, but my mom came to the rescue again.

You should see the ladders required to get this stuff done!

We liked the color so much we decided to put on under the chair rail in the dining room (which is actually Fletcher's playroom). Then the big finally (drum roll please)... RED for the top.

It took 3 coats of paint, and Mark and I had to do it at night after Fletcher's little hands were asleep, but it was worth it. It looks awesome! Maybe someday we'll even get a table and eat in there.
